Braithwaite’s Kolkata Works inspected by Shri Sanjeev Chopra (IAS), Secretary (FPD), Government of India

News Hungama: Kolkata, 27 January 2025: Shri Sanjeev Chopra (IAS), Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution (FPD), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India accompanied by Shri Santosh Sinha, Managing Director, Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), Shri Vinod Tamori, General Manager (Rail Operations) and team CWC visited Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL) on 27th January 2025. The visit marked a significant step towards fostering collaboration between the two organizations to enhance India’s logistics and manufacturing capabilities. Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma, Executive Director, QA (Mechanical), RDSO-Kolkata was also present during the visit of Shri Sanjeev Chopra (IAS), Secretary (FPD).   Md. Asad Alam, Chairman and Managing Director along with Shri Sanjeev Rastogi, Director (Production), Shri R. Veerabahu, Director (Finance), Shri A. K. Shahi, Chief Works Manager and senior officials of BCL warmly welcomed the dignitaries. During the visit, Shri Sanjeev Chopra inspected 40 Ft. Open Top High Cube Container for Transportation of Steel Coil, 20 Ft. High Cube Central Side Access End Open Dry Cargo Container and BLSS Wagon (25T Spine Car) manufactured for Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC). He also reviewed other wagons and containers being manufactured in Kolkata Works of BCL.   The first rake of BLSS Wagons (Spine Cars) for CWC was flagged off in his presence. BLSS Wagon (Spine Cars) has been designed and developed by BCL. This wagon has been awarded ‘Best Innovative Product Solution of the Year-2024’ in Manufacturing and MSME Conclave organized by ASSOCHAM.   Expressing his admiration for BCL’s advanced capabilities and operational efficiency, Shri Sanjeev Chopra said, “Braithwaite has demonstrated exceptional engineering expertise and a commitment to excellence. As CWC continues to expand its logistics infrastructure, we see immense potential for collaboration in areas such as wagon and container procurement.”   Md. Asad Alam assured the commitment of BCL to complete supply order of CWC and strengthening ties with CWC, emphasizing the importance of such partnerships in achieving shared goals of enhancing efficiency and sustainability in the logistics and rail sectors.   The visit also included discussions on infrastructure development, supply chain optimization, and leveraging indigenous engineering expertise to support India’s “Make in India” initiative
